Research areas:
Acoustic remote sensing:
- studying the mechanisms of acoustic wave scattering on marine biological objects
- justifying and improving algorithms for estimating fish and zooplankton biomass and identifying their species
- developing hydroacoustical techniques for classifying benthic habitats
- developing hydroacoustical methods for evaluation of marine biological processes
- hydroacoustical study of the ecosystems of the southern Baltic
- bioacoustics
Satellite remote sensing:
- development of a satellite remote sensing methodology (AVHRR, MODIS, SEVIRI etc.) for determining characteristics of the Baltic ecosystem, such as distribution maps of sea surface temperature, water transparency, upwellings, phytoplankton blooms, radiation balance, pigment concentrations, and primary production
- analysis of the characteristic features of spatial variability of southern Baltic waters on the basis of remotely sensed sea surface temperature and “water colour”
