Research areas:
- Species diversity of benthic communities in the Gulf of Gdańsk - spatial, seasonal and long-term changes. Behavioral, physiological and biochemical diversity of benthic species
- Non-indigenous species in the Gulf of Gdańsk: distribution and population dynamics, adaptive strategies (behavioral, physiological, biochemical) to environmental conditions, and their effect on native biocenosis
- Effect of natural and anthropogenic factors on behavior and physiological processes of indigenous and non-indigenous marine invertebrate species (food consumption, excretion, assimilation, respiration, total metabolism, secondary production, osmoregulation)
- Rate and direction of succession of fouling communities in the Gulf of Gdańsk
- Bio-indicators and biomarkers as a tool to estimate marine environment quality
- Assessment of the socio-economic importance of marine ecosystems (direct and indirect valuation of marine ecosystem goods and services, economic valuation of marine biodiversity preservation, ecological valuation, development of decision support systems)
- Baltic invertebrates used for aquaculture and as a marine products in industry
