Research areas:

• Assessment of the effect of environmental conditions on the structure of microphytobenthic assemblages with particular focus on benthic diatoms in the coastal zone of the Gulf of Gdańsk
• The importance of indicative species, spectra and diatom indices for the classification of brackish waters, and freshwaters discharged to the Gulf of Gdańsk.
• Species richness, variations and geographical distribution of the structure of the microphytobenthic assemblages (including planktonic forms) in tidal and non-tidal areas.
• Application of stable isotope technique to reconstruction of trophic links in the marine environment
• Impact of sub-seabed CO2 storage in the Baltic Sea on marine ecosystems.
• Structure of food webs and trophic transfer of pollutants.
